Therapy
Etanercept
Soluble TNF receptor fusion protein.
Also called: etanercept, Enbrel, ETN

In short
- 1What it is: a therapy in therapies and applications.
- 2How it connects: acts on 3 and is affected by 0 concepts — mostly 1 molecule, 1 disease, 1 therapy.
- 3Where it sits: therapy on the 15-step immune chain.
What it does
TNFR2-Fc decoy protein; binds soluble TNF only (cannot bind membrane-bound TNF → no reverse signalling → does not work in fistulising Crohn's disease); lower TB reactivation risk vs other anti-TNFs (granuloma membrane TNF less affected); does not work in UC or CD (hence no IBD approval); not a monoclonal antibody (no ADCC, no CDC)
