Biomarker
Erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR)
Non-specific laboratory measure associated with systemic inflammation.
Also called: ESR, erythrocyte sedimentation rate, Westergren
Sparsely connected — only 1 link recorded so far.

In short
- 1What it is: a biomarker in research methods.
- 2How it connects: acts on 0 and is affected by 1 concepts — mostly 1 disease.
- 3Where it sits: biomarker on the 15-step immune chain.
What it does
Non-specific; rises with fibrinogen, IgG, IgM (all acute phase reactants); less responsive to treatment change than CRP; used in DAS28-ESR (RA disease activity score); elevated in PMR/GCA → falls with steroid response (diagnostic and monitoring)
