Pathogen
Influenza A virus
Respiratory virus sensed by innate antiviral pathways.
Also called: influenza virus, influenza A

In short
- 1What it is: a pathogen in diseases and immunopathology.
- 2How it connects: acts on 1 and is affected by 2 concepts — mostly 2 cell, 1 pathway.
- 3Where it sits: trigger on the 15-step immune chain.
What it does
RIG-I → MAVS → IFN-β; CD8 CTL → perforin/granzyme killing of infected cells; NK cell ADCC; influenza vaccine efficacy reduced in elderly (immunosenescence) and CMV seropositive (40-60% worse response); morning influenza vaccination → 30% higher antibody titre (JCI 2019)
